It will take place in eight Latin American countries
The announcement of the launching of the Latin American Poker Tour 2008 (LAPT) has raised a big international interest in the last few days. The tourney intends to find the best poker player in Latin America.

Vega Promotional Systems was the chosen enterprise to be in charge of launching the opening season of the tourney that is going to be held in eight Latin American countries during its first stage, specifically Puerto Rico, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.

Michael Herron, CEO of Vega, declared: “We have received a great amount of interest over the tour from all parts of the world. This is a clear example of how professional poker has expanded and it’s exactly why we felt it was the right time for this type of tourneys. There are many good players in Latin America and we expect to see them playing against the best professional players in the world and find the number one poker player in Latin America. Our goal is to make of the LAPT one of the most important poker tours in the world”.

Vega announced that the tournament will be broadcasted for all Latin America and that several companies have showed their interest in sponsoring the transmission, among them, Fox Business Network, CNN Money, MSN Money and Forbes.com. The season’s success is expected to represent several million dollars of profit for Vega.
