Hollywood actor Don Cheadle and poker star Annie Duke along with the non profit organization “Not On Our Watch” have joined forces to organize a celebrity Poker tourney to raise money destined to help the victims of the conflict which is now taking place in Darfur, Sudan. The event will take place this May, 8th.
The differences between the Janjaweed and the black Africans from the Darfur region has led to an ethnic conflict with massacres, massive murders and the forced moving of thousands of people. According to estimations made by the United Nations, more than 400,000 people have been killed and about 2,000,000 more have had to abandon their homes since the beginning of the conflict.
The variety of Poker chosen for this tourney is Texas Hold’Em Poker, which is the most popular nowadays. An invitation is necessary to participate in this special event that will only include celebrities, professional Poker players and other celebrities popular inside the world of Poker. Although all the money raised by this charity will go to the victims of Darfur, the winner of the tourney will take home a Poker table autographed by all the celebrities participating.
The “Not On Our Watch” organization will receive the money raised and will be in charge of taking it to the Darfur victims.
