If they decide that Poker is a strategy game, like Chess or Bridge, this popular game is going to be permitted at private clubs; but, if they decide that Poker is a game of chance, like Roulette or Blackjack, only Casinos would be allowed to organize Poker games.
This questions are the consequence of the Gaming Act 1968, that establishes that is illegal to charge a percentage of the players winnings. The review that took over a year and was studied at “The Gustshot” (One of England’s most important private clubs) forced magistrates to take care of the old law.
This investigation proved to be harder than most people would think, because this famous club has over 12,000 members, and like any club of this kind rest upon poker games. Derek Kelly said: “At Poker games what matters is ability. The most experienced and skilled player has better chances of being the winner of the game.
