Protests against laws that threaten online poker
Professional poker players went to Washington to protest
Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Greg Raymer went to Washington D.C. to protest against the three laws that are being discussed by legislators at the Congress and threaten to prohibit online poker in the United States.

The three professional poker players are representatives for the “Poker Players Alliance”; organization that has more than 200,000 American affiliates. In a press conference organized by the alliance, they criticized the anti gambling campaign promoted by the government. Lederer also said that poker is more a skills game than a chance game, so it shouldn’t be included in the prohibition.

The first anti gaming law is being promoted by the republican Goodlatte and would put a stop to the online gambling industry in the United States, granting courts the authority to block access to gambling and poker sites.

The second law, promoted by the republican party member Leach, will limit the use of credit cards or another online payment method to non-gambling payments only. The third law, promoted by Senator Kyl, regulates online gambling; this law has been discussed several times but has never been approved.
