Pubs could host poker games
The US Government is considering the possibility
The US Government is studying a proposal that would allow pubs to host poker games without the need to apply for an exemption. The rules of the recently approved Gambling Act could make it easier for such establishments to host games.

Currently, pubs are required to apply for a special permit in order to hold “equal chance gaming”, a category that includes dominoes, bingo and poker. However, the government is considering a modification of the current regulation.

If poker in pubs is approved, limits will be established concerning stakes and prizes, to make sure the games are kept in a non-commercial basis. “From an operator’s point of view this provides an opportunity because there is no need to make an application,” Nick Arron, of licensing solicitors Poppleston Allen, said.
