A 21-year-old student earned a place at the prestigious tournament in Las Vegas
Last summer, Simon Pettet, a math and sports science student at Chester University, won a competition in London and became VC King of Poker, which earned him a place at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
The 21-year-old champion said he was very proud of his victory and admitted this was his first major poker tournament. "Playing online was brilliant training for tournament play. The main lesson I learned is not to get over-confident when things are going well and not to let it get to you when it's going badly."
Mr. Pettet plays poker online since May 2005 and recently joined the University’s poker society. He said he also enjoys playing just for fun with friends. Winning the tournament in London made him eligible for the prestigious poker tournament at Harrah’s Rio Casino.
The WSOP will take place from June 25th to August 10th.
